Research

My research focuses on environmental education, sense of place, and professional development of environmental educators. I use various qualitative and quantitative methods. I also became interested in green cities and urban aspects of environmental education and stewardship. Below are my selected publications.

NEW PROJECT (from fall 2019)

Project title: "Exploring the outcomes of urban agriculture education in NYC." Along with my colleagues, I will begin a new research project in New York City about social impacts of urban agriculture education. We will look at how urban agriculture – in community gardens, public schools, nutrition programs, and positive youth development programs – encourage participants to adapt plant-based diet (which mitigates climate change), strengthens social capital, and results in other outcomes. More news – after October 2019 when the project starts. Sponsored by Federal Capacity Funds.
